******************************************************************************** Enhancements and Bugs Fixs in ComTrac 2.9 (August 23, 2001) ******************************************************************************* 1. Exit ComTrac/Back Up Data We've eliminated the text screen that reminded you to backup, and told how to back up manually. Instead, ComTrac asks you whether you want to back up or not. We hope this will encourage more of you to back up REGULARLY!!! 2. New Comics | Master Comics Title File | Editing Bug. Some code dropped out of ComTrac due to a glitch in the text editor, so the cycle sheets weren't being updated properly when either the Title or Barcode in the Master Comics Title File was edited. The result was that the item would also drop out of the PLU Table when it was updated. This has been fixed. 3. Diamond Orders | User's Choice in Summing Pull-Hold Orders Users now have a choice in how ComTrac sums up Subscribers and Special Orders in the Diamond order form. - If you choose the Automated process, ComTrac will force Pull-Hold and Special Order quantities into the Diamond Order Form. Then it is your responsibility to double-check to make sure that items which Diamond neglected to mark as "O/A" aren't being ordered in error. - If you choose the Manual process, ComTrac won't force any Pull-Hold or Special Order quantities, and you'll have to manually go through the Order Form, using the Std-Order or Alt-Ord command in Form View to summarize them for ordering. ComTrac will continue to BEEP when you come to an item in Form View that has Pull-Hold quantities. 4. Generating Barcodes in ComTrac We've consolidated the individual barcode tools throughout ComTrac into one location in the Orders Menu. We have also restored the Create Comics Barcode tool which was accidentally removed from Version 2.8 of ComTrac. * Generating Comics Barcodes * When you tag any title and issue combination and exit the tagging window, ComTrac will ask you, one by one, for each title|issue combination, how many labels you want to have printed. You'll see the title|issue combination this refers to. * Generating All Barcodes * The last part of the barcode creation process is when ComTrac displays a tagging window, showing all the items you want to create barcodes for. If you want to create barcodes for everything in the window, just press "A" for "All". 5. Orders | Negative Inv Report We've stripped out the duplicate utility for creating default wholesale costs and replaced it with a function that finds all occurences where products have a negative inventory level. If you want to find out-of-stock situations, go to each module for the appropriate tool. 6. Orders | Import Order Form | Title Bug When we've had a title like this: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer #55 Foil Edition" ComTrac created a title like this: "Buffy the Vampire SlayerFoil Edition". We've fixed this so the new title has the space between "Slayer" and "Foil". 7. POS Update Process We have modified the POS update process so you can have negative inventory. 8. Reserves | Special Orders | Add Special Order We have completely reworked this tool. When you enter special orders for a customer, the procedure is as follows: a. Select the desired distributor (Diamond) from your Vendor window b. Select the desired order form from the Order Form window c. Enter 1-4 characters for the customers last name and select the customer from the Customer window d. Specify whether you want the order form to appear in Description order or in Solicitation Number (line number) order e. Check mark the items in the order form the customer wishes to special order f. Exit the window. g. ComTrac will prompt you to enter the quantity and deposit for each item - the default quantity is 1 and the default deposit is zero. Press PgDn to accept the defaults and quickly go to the next item. h. If you have ordered the same item for the same customer a second time, ComTrac will detect this and give you the option of Skipping the order entirely or Incrementing the existing order. i. Repeat for each customer. j. Once you've selected an order form for a distributor, all you have to select multiple times are the customers placing orders. *******************************************************************************
